Amanda Knox will be facing retrial for the murder of Meredith Kercher after an Italian court overturned her acquittal in 2011.
She (Amanda) was jailed in 2007 which means she spent 4years in jail before being acquitted for murder and that decsion by an Italian judge attracted worldwide criticisms.
She is due back in court for re-trail of Meredith Kercher who was muredered just 2 months after she left the UK to study in Italy. Amanda and her then boyfriend Raffaele Sollecit
In a statement, Amanda said:
“painful’ to have her acquittal overturned, but that she remained confident in ‘the truth. No matter what happens, my family and I will face this continuing legal battle as we always have, confident in the truth and with our heads held high in the face of wrongful accusations and unreasonable adversity.”
According to Amanada’s lawyer Carlo Dalla Vedova “If the court orders another trial, if she is convicted at that trial and if the conviction is upheld by the highest court, then Italy could seek her extradition.”
The whole situation started report says when “Meredith, 21, was found semi-naked and with her throat cut in her bedroom in the house she shared with fellow student Ms Knox and two other women in Perugia.
Ms Knox, 25, and Mr Sollecito, 29, were initially found guilty in 2009 and were jailed for 26 years and 25 years respectively.”
In 2011, the question on most people’s lips after Amanda’s release was “is she really innocent?
