Police Declare Biafran Zionist Leader Mr. Onwuka Benjamin Igwe Wanted

The leader  of the pro-Biafran group, the Biafran Zionist Movement (BZM), which claimed responsibility for the recent attack of  Enugu State Government House and threatened takeover of the former Eastern Region by April 1, in the person of Mr. Onwuka Benjamin Igwe, has been declared wanted by the Police for alleged treasonable felony.

In a statement  Signed by the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, Ebere Amaraizu, the police says:

“The state Police Command has declared one Onwuka Benjamin Igwe wanted for treasonable felony. Igwe is one of the suspected actors in the unlawful act of 8th March 2014 at Government House and since then has not been seen.

“He is 5ft 2 inches tall and not too dark in complexion and about 52 years and speaks English and Igbo languages fluently. He is also a native of Item in Bende local council of Abia State and is resident around Abakpa Nike axis of Enugu State.

“The command requests anyone with useful information about him to contact any nearest police division or formation or the state Criminal and Investigations Department, Enugu State, for appropriate action as the informant will be adequately rewarded.”

Addressing newsmen on March 12, four days after members of the group invaded the Enugu Government House and hoisted various Biafran flags, Igwe (a lawyer) had claimed responsibility for the action, stressing that it was part of the move to oust Nigeria from Biafran territory by April 1
